Every evening, Bramble jingled past the frozen hay shed, counting his collar bells: ting, tang, tong, all six in a row. He wanted a new game, so one frosty dusk he shook his antlers and announced, “Guess what made that sound!”
Because of that, the field mice tapped icicles with acorn caps, making tiny plinks. Because of THAT, the owls flapped down to guess, and their wings puffed snow into everyone’s noses. Bramble sneezed so hard his bells rang backward—gong, gat, gnit! At last, he invented the final rule: whoever made the silliest sound won the last jingle. The snowfield roared with hoots, squeaks, sneezes, and antler-shakes, and if you spot Bramble’s big grin, you’ll know he is still counting: ting, tang, tong.
