🎨 How to color it

Color the kitten soft orange, the yarn ball with red and purple stripes, the toy mouse light gray, and the grass bright green. Use chunky crayons or markers for the kitten’s big body shapes, and don’t worry if little paws or whiskers go outside the lines. Try making the yarn tail a rainbow path that curls all the way toward the mouse.

The story behind this coloring page

The Mouse That Waited — Across the sunny yard, Pip patted a loose yarn string. Boing, wiggle, loop! Read the full story →

Across the sunny yard, Pip patted a loose yarn string. Boing, wiggle, loop! The ball rolled a little, then stopped by a tuft of tickly grass. Pip crouched low, nose twitching at the woolly smell, and waited for it to move again.

A tiny gray mouse sat near the curl of string. It did not squeak or scamper. Pip blinked. Then the mouse went click-click, and its wheel feet rolled forward. “Oh!” Pip mewed. A toy mouse!

The toy bumped the yarn, and the ball spun round and round. Pip gave one careful tap, then another, until the string made a twisty trail for both of them. Look near the grass again — the patient little mouse is still ready for click-click adventure.
