🎨 How to color it

Try deep teal for the gymnast’s patterned leotard, coral and gold for the central mandala petals, and sunny yellow centers on the daisies around the hoop. Use sharp colored pencils and color from the smallest inner motifs outward so the tiny leaf, stripe, and swirl details stay crisp. For a polished twist, shade the hoop from violet at the lower left to indigo at the upper right, letting it cut across the warm flower mandala like a cool ribbon of shadow.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the slanted roof of the maker loft, where sawdust smelled faintly of oranges from the floor polish, Liora turned her cracked practice hoop in her hands. It had been her mother’s, though no one else would have guessed; beneath the tape was a thumb-worn notch where every nervous routine had begun. She only wanted it mended before dusk. So, with the loft empty except for the rain ticking on the skylight, she stepped away from the safe square of mat and crossed to the workbench no one used without permission.

Here is the secret: the bench did not bite. It offered brass wire, a jar of amber varnish, and a needle file rough as a cat’s tongue. Liora paid for her boldness with one torn nail and a crescent of glue on her wrist, but she wrapped the split herself, pressed a tiny petal pattern into the new seam, and waited while the wood drank its shine. When she carried the hoop back, it was not her mother’s hoop anymore, not exactly. It was an old circle with Liora’s own hand hidden in it, and beneath the slanted roof, the cracked practice hoop turned whole.
