🎨 How to color it

Color the race car cherry red, the wreath on the hood pine green, the North Pole Grand Prix arch icy blue, and the wrapped presents bright gold and purple. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny bulbs, snowflakes, and candy-cane stripes, then switch to broader strokes for the snowy hills and track curves. Try making the car’s Christmas lights alternate yellow and orange so they look extra warm against the cool blue snow.

Every evening before the North Pole Grand Prix, Dex made himself a tiny challenge: one cheerful honk for each snowy curve, no more, no matter how much his mittens twitched. His car smelled like peppermint polish, and the little bulbs along its sides blinked as if they were begging to join in. “One honk,” Dex whispered, grinning through his helmet. “I am a serious racing professional.”

Until one day, his horn came out as a squeaky HEE-HAW-HO-HO that startled three pine trees into dropping snow on a stack of gift boxes. Because of that, the gift wrappers laughed so hard they tied bows crooked. Because of THAT, the flag elves began answering every squeak with jingling bells from the archway, and the snowplow penguins puffed little clouds in rhythm. Dex tried to look innocent, but his joy got too big for his face.

Finally, he stopped counting honks and made a new rule: anyone who heard the silly snowy signal had to pass it along. The whole circuit rang with bells, squeaks, giggles, and crunching tires, and if you can spot Dex’s raised hand, you might hear the first cheerful honk of the snowy curve.
