🎨 How to color it

Make the number 31 race car electric purple with orange lightning bolts, silver skulls, and lime-green stars, then give the waving ghost a pale blue glow and the jack-o’-lanterns bright pumpkin orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the small roof stars, skull badges, tire treads, and castle windows, then switch to smoother marker fills on the car body and wide curving road. For a Halloween twist, shade the sky from twilight violet to deep navy so the bats, bare trees, and haunted castle feel extra moonlit.

Under the crooked castle towers, Cass rolled car 31 to the first silver stripe and whispered the rules of her brand-new Moon-Whoosh Game: zoom through a shadow, shout “Whoosh!” and give the next patch of moonlight to someone else. Her tires hummed on the cold track. Dry leaves skittered like tiny fans. A ghost drifted beside the railing, waiting with both hands ready.

Cass swept around the pumpkin bend. “Whoosh for the pumpkins!” she called, and orange faces glowed along the weeds. “Whoosh for the bats!” The bats flipped over the road, squeaking as if the sky had hiccups. Joy fizzed in Cass’s engine, too big to keep under her hood, so she gave every curve a whoosh of its own.

Then the castle answered. Not with thunder, but with dozens of soft whooshes from the windows, the trees, even the little skulls painted on Cass’s bumper. The whole track had been playing along, saving its turns. Next time you spot the waving ghost, dare yourself to hear the castle share that first silver-stripe whoosh.
