🎨 How to color it

Layer the knight’s armor in burnished silver and deep pewter, make the castle towers warm limestone, and set the sunburst panes in amber, ruby, and pale blue. Use sharp pencils for the tiny scrollwork on the breastplate, visor, and shoulder guards, then deepen shadows where the armor plates overlap. For a secret-window effect, keep the outer arch cooler and let the circle behind the helmet glow like hidden morning light.

At dusk, Veyran left the warm armory for one plain brass key, no longer than his thumb, because its teeth matched a tune his sister used to tap on the table. The glass hall smelled of dust and rain, and each step made the old windows answer in faint blue clicks. To reach the chapel niche, he traded his polished gauntlet to the door-ward for silence. Inside, the key opened nothing; it merely fit a groove beneath the saint’s heel, turning the sunset into words across his armor: Keep walking. He returned bare-handed, with rain on one palm and the tune still tapping.
