🎨 How to color it

Try pearl silver for the knight’s ornate armor, deep sapphire for the flowing cape, warm gold for the sword hilt, and lavender gray for the far castle. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny scrollwork on the armor and cape, then switch to smoother strokes for the wide cloth panels. Add a pale blue-to-violet night gradient around the crescent moon so her bright armor feels extra dramatic.

Every evening, Liora climbed the high ridge with a bundle of cloth, determined to finish a parade cape stitched by her own hands. The wind snapped her thread, the cold made her fingers squeak on the needle, and her squad’s goat kept chewing the tassels. “Spit out the heroism, Niblet,” she told him.

Until one night, the crescent moon slid between racing clouds and flashed silver across the inside of her plain cape. Because of that, Liora saw pale chalk lines she had never noticed, tucked beneath a flap everyone used as a napkin. Because of THAT, she followed the secret pattern, snipping, folding, and sewing while Niblet hiccupped thread fuzz beside the rocks.

At dawn, the cape unfurled in long, proud points like moonbeams she had made herself. The captain laughed so hard his helmet rang, but he pinned the first parade bell to Liora’s collar. Next time you see her standing on the ridge, see if you can spot the cape that began as a bundle of cloth.
