🎨 How to color it

Color the butterfly’s wings in coral pink and golden yellow, the heart shapes in raspberry, the tulips in lavender and peach, and the bow in soft mint. Use sharp colored pencils for the wing spirals, dots, and narrow leaf veins, filling the larger tulip petals after the small details are done. Try fading each upper wing from warm yellow near the body to coral at the tips, so the black swirls seem to float on top.

Under the awning of the quiet bouquet stall, Vesta tapped one tulip, then another, setting herself a challenge: seven questions before the last sunstripe left the ribbon table. Why did tulips close like folded letters? Why did leaves smell green when rain was still far away? Why did the florist’s scissors go snip-snap in such a sleepy rhythm? Each answer led to another, softer and stranger.

A silver aphid polishing a stem whispered, “Ask the wind one.”

So Vesta lifted her face. The wind had been tying invisible knots all afternoon, curling around petals, looping through leaves, and slipping away before anyone could see where it went. Vesta chased it from bud to bud until the breeze brushed her wings with cool, silky fingers. Every question she asked made a new curl, dot, and spiral settle into place, like the wind writing back.

By sunset, butterflies everywhere kept those looping marks, so their curiosity would never run out. Next time you see the swirls on Vesta’s wings, can you guess which question the wind answered first?
