🎨 How to color it

Color the daisy centers golden yellow, the petals creamy white, the flowerpot warm terracotta, and the tied curtain a soft sky blue with pale cloud shapes. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow petals, jagged daisy leaves, and dangling vine, then switch to gentle side-strokes for the wooden window frame and distant hills. Try a sunrise gradient outside the panes, fading peach to light blue, so the white daisies look extra crisp against the window.

At the upstairs window, Felix pressed one socked toe onto the cool floorboard and whispered the rules of his new game: count five daisy faces, tap the pot, then peek past the glass before chickening out. The curtain smelled dusty-sweet, like sun on old cotton. “Five, tap, peek,” he said, and the daisies bobbed as if they were trying not to laugh.

He counted the round centers—one, two, three, four, five—while the pot’s rim felt chalky under his finger. Outside, the hills rolled away in green humps, and the trees stood skinny and still. Felix gave the quickest peek in history, so quick his eyelashes made a tiny breeze. That counted. Probably. He added a bonus rule: anyone who peeked longer than a hiccup earned the title of Window Captain.

Then the dangling vine tapped the sill: tick, tick, tick. Felix froze, then grinned. The vine had been counting him. Its little leaves pointed outward like a row of nosy thumbs, and suddenly the game was not Felix versus the window, but Felix and the plant spying on the whole bright world. He looked for one full hiccup, then two. Next time you spot those trailing leaves, see if they are still keeping score on five, tap, peek.
