🎨 How to color it

Color the daisies with lemon-yellow centers and white petals, make the woven basket honey brown, and give the bow a bright robin’s-egg blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the basket’s crisscross strips and the eggs’ tiny dots, waves, spirals, and triangle panels. Try giving each egg a different spring palette, then echo one of those colors in the loose leaves around the basket.

Every morning, Quinn dashed through the flower market with a basket of daisies, eggs, and ribbon samples, trying to beat the brass bell that opened the spring fair. The basket smelled like straw, pollen, and sugar glaze from the baker’s stall. One windy morning, the blue bow on the handle snapped loose with a whip-crack, and a folded petal-map fluttered out from underneath.

Because of that, Quinn skidded past the ribbon tent instead of stopping, following the map’s squiggly marks between carts and crates. Because of that, the patterned eggs in the basket began to rattle in order—tap, tap-tap, tap—like they were answering the map. “Not now!” Quinn laughed, running faster as daisies brushed her sleeves and a trail of tiny leaves spun behind her.

Until finally, Quinn reached the silent bell tower and found the surprise hidden where nobody thought to look: inside the bell’s clapper, a sleepy silver cricket was stuck in old wax. Quinn freed it with a daisy stem, and its first chirp rang the bell clear across the fair. If you spot the big bow, imagine the petal-map tucked there, still smelling like straw, pollen, and sugar glaze.
