🎨 How to color it

Try ruby red and blush pink for the large roses, deep green for the leaves, warm tan for the stepping stones, and honey brown for the trellis fence. Use sharp colored pencils for the layered petals and leaf veins, then switch to broader strokes for the open path and background shrubs. For a secret-garden feeling, make the roses near the front rich and bright, then fade the flowers along the path into softer pinks and peaches.

The story behind this coloring page

Behind the tool shed, Juniper always read on the same flat crate, where the air smelled of dust and cut stems. That afternoon, rain began ticking on the roof, and a note slipped from her library book: Bring a story to the place that waits. Juniper tucked the book under her jacket and followed the narrow garden path away from her crate.

Wet leaves brushed her sleeves. Thorns snagged one blue thread from her cuff, and mud swallowed the shine from her shoes. Near the old trellis, the path ended at a rosebush with one bloom bent low, as if listening. “All right,” Juniper whispered. “What are you keeping?” Under the root, a loose stepping stone rocked with a gritty scrape. Beneath it lay a small green key, cold as a rain pebble.

The key opened a trellis gate hidden behind climbing leaves. Inside was a round, dry nook with one wooden seat and a shelf just wide enough for her book. Juniper read the first page aloud, and the roses held the rain off like cupped hands. Next time you trace the stones between the roses, see if you can tell which one rocked under Juniper’s hand.
