🎨 How to color it

Color the horse a creamy palomino, the feathered headpiece teal and magenta, the Showtime sign buttery yellow, and the stage curtains cherry red. Use chunky crayons or markers for the wide curtain stripes and horse body, then let a grown-up help with the tiny jewels and saddle swirls if you like. Try making the round pedestal gold on top with purple scallops so the prancing hoof looks extra showy.

The story behind this coloring page

Tilly’s Secret Spotlight Game — Under the tent ropes, Tilly tapped three quick hoofbeats: clop, clap, click. Read the full story →

Under the tent ropes, Tilly tapped three quick hoofbeats: clop, clap, click. She had just invented Spotlight Tag, a game where she hopped from one circle of warm light to the next before the drums went boom. Her plume tickled her ears, and sawdust puffed sweet and dry around her hooves.

She tagged the first bright spot, then the second, then spun toward the tallest one. A tiny trumpet squeaked under the platform. Out marched six mice in red caps, blinking at the glare. They were not late—they had been following Tilly’s hoofbeats like a map.

“Take my big light,” Tilly whispered. She stepped aside and tapped softer: clop, clap, click. The mice played a silver-shiny tune, and nobody knew who had guided them there. When you see Tilly’s lifted hoof, can you hear the secret game begin again: clop, clap, click?
