🎨 How to color it

Color the happy mug honey yellow, the cider amber, the cinnamon stick warm brown, and the apple slice red with a pale cream center. Use chunky crayons for the big mug and saucer, then help with smaller spots like the berry circles, steam bubbles, and tiny window stars. Try making the curling steam light peach at the bottom and pale lavender near the moon, like a secret smell floating upward.

The story behind this coloring page

Behind the pantry curtain, Cora warmed her tiny hands around a cider cup and wished for one cinnamon curl to make it smell like the festival. The jar sat on the high shelf, past the cold tile where crumbs went crackle-crack. She tiptoed out anyway. “Shh, I’ll only borrow one,” she whispered.

The cinnamon stick rolled under the apple basket and bumped her toe. A splintery flap opened, and inside was a silver paper moon that smelled spicy-sweet. It said, For whoever forgot their treat. Cora could have kept it. Instead, she tucked the moon beside Mrs. Wren’s empty cup and came back with just the cinnamon curl and warmer cheeks.

The cider steamed swish-swish by the window. If you peek at the curl in the cup, maybe you can keep Cora’s secret, too.
