🎨 How to color it

Color the haunted house lavender with charcoal-gray roofs, the smiling ghost pearly white, the pumpkin bright orange, and the four bats deep purple. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big roof swoops and wall spaces, and don’t worry if little hands color past the curved lines. Try making every shiny window a warm yellow, as if friendly secrets are glowing inside.

Under the squeaky roof, Bramble polished a tiny silver button that shone like a moon. He wanted to hear the music it used to make, the soft plink his old blanket made when the wind touched it. The button only sat cold in his mitten. Outside, the stone path clicked in the fog, and four bats squeaked, “This way!”

Bramble floated past scratchy trees and traded his last candy corn to the porch pumpkin for a riddle. “What sings without a mouth?” asked the pumpkin, smelling like candle smoke. Bramble held the button up to the round attic window. Moonlight poured through it—plink, plink, plink! Every window answered, bright and golden. “I can share it!” Bramble whispered. He hurried home with the song spilling behind him, and if you spot the little ghost by the house, maybe you can hear that button moon go plink.
