🎨 How to color it

Color the pineapple body golden yellow, its spiky crown bright green, the sunglasses aqua blue, and the hibiscus flowers coral pink. Use chunky crayons or markers for the large pineapple scales and petals, then let an adult help with the tiny sparkle shapes on the lenses. Try making the sunglasses darker at the top and lighter at the bottom, as if they caught a pool of summer sky.

Behind the hibiscus stage, Zadie polished her tiny blue button with a leaf. It had popped from her first parade vest, so she kept it for luck. She wanted every fruit in the tropical parade to see the dancers’ twirl, but the noon sun flashed white on the path. Plink! Mangoes blinked. Papayas bumped. Even the drums sounded squinty.

Zadie held up the button to hide one eye. The glare turned soft and cool. “Psst, try this!” she whispered. A beetle jeweler clicked two wide leaf frames around the button shine, and Zadie grinned so big the hibiscus opened wider. Ever since that secret parade, pineapples wear sunglasses when summer joy gets too bright to keep to themselves. Can you spot the little sparkles that remember Zadie’s button?
