Past the round aquarium glass, vacation shoes squeaked and squeaked. Pip paddled slowly through the warm, swishy water, wanting to wave at the children outside but keeping both flippers tucked close. His shell felt tickly where the little fish zipped by. “Maybe just one tiny wave,” he whispered.
He lifted a flipper. Blip! A bubble popped beside his nose. Then another bubble floated up, carrying a tiny snail with a straw-shaped shell, blowing bubbly trumpets. Poot-poot-blub! Pip giggled so hard he forgot to be shy and waved both flippers at once. The children waved back, the fish made a silly parade, and the snail bowed from his bubble. Next time you spot the biggest bubble above Pip, dare it not to giggle first.
