🎨 How to color it

Color the ghost pearly white with pale pink cheeks, the jack-o'-lantern bright pumpkin orange, and the stars sunny yellow with a few lavender dots. Use chunky crayons or markers for the ghost’s big open body, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the pumpkin grooves and tiny circles. Try making the stars closest to the ghost extra bright, as if its happy wave is making them twinkle.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Ghosts Glow Near Pumpkins — Under the soft blue dark, Pip drifted through the moon garden, listening for the tiny ting-ting of sleeping stars. Pip wanted to know where the sparkles hid before Halloween night. Read the full story →

Under the soft blue dark, Pip drifted through the moon garden, listening for the tiny ting-ting of sleeping stars. Pip wanted to know where the sparkles hid before Halloween night. Behind a curled vine came a sniffle and a warm pumpkin smell. A little jack-o’-lantern blinked up from the leaves. “I can’t shine,” it whispered. “My smile is too full of shadows.”

Pip leaned close, curious as a kitten, and the pumpkin’s carved grin filled with gentle light. Ting-ting-ting! The stars woke and gathered around them like silver freckles. Pip waved, and the glow grew round and cozy, not bright enough to scare anyone, just bright enough to guide small feet home. Ever since then, ghosts float near pumpkins on Halloween so their soft light can wake the sparkles; next time you see Pip’s raised little hand, can you spot where the first ting-ting stars gathered?
