🎨 How to color it

Try pearl gray for the castle stones, ruby red for the little flags, golden yellow for the round sun, and soft blue for the cloud panels. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow sun rays, window arches, roof diamonds, and leafy border, coloring one stained-glass pane at a time. For extra sparkle, fade the sun rays from lemon near the circle to pale peach at the edges, then make every other roof tile a deeper blue.

The story behind this coloring page

The Sunray Counting Dare — At the highest window, a tin pail clinked against Soren’s knee as he whispered, “One dare: count every sunray before the noon bell.” He could have stayed on the warm sill with the lemon-smelling polish, but the rays spilled too far—over roofs, flags, and the road beyond the gate. At the highest window, a tin pail clinked against Soren’s knee as he whispered, “One dare: count every sunray before the noon bell.” He could have stayed on the warm sill with the lemon-smelling polish, but the rays spilled too far—over roofs, flags, and the road beyond the gate. So out he went, chalk in pocket, tapping a mark for each bright stripe.

The seventh ray slipped behind a thorny hedge. Soren squeezed through and paid for his curiosity with a torn sleeve and burrs prickling his socks. There, under the arch of the old observatory road, something hummed like a bee in a jar: a small amber disk, warm as toast. “Secret sun button,” he breathed.

Back at the castle, Soren set it in the empty circle above the tallest roofs. The cold hallways filled with gold. He never finished counting; the rays kept multiplying, as if they had heard the dare. If you trace them outward from the bright round center, can you keep the secret count longer than Soren did?
