🎨 How to color it

Color the strawberries ruby red, the leafy plants fresh green, the wooden basket honey brown, and the barn a classic barn red. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny strawberry seeds and leaf veins, then switch to broader strokes for the long field rows and open sky. Try making the nearest berries the brightest red, then fade the farther rows slightly pink to show the field stretching into the sunny distance.

The story behind this coloring page

Every morning, before the sun climbed over the barn roof, Nessa counted the strawberry rows by tapping one pebble for each finished patch. Tap, tap, tap went her small stick on the dusty path. She wanted to mark every row before the noon whistle, but she never touched the heavy picking baskets; those belonged to the taller hands with straw hats and muddy boots.

Until one day, the fullest basket sat exactly on her last counting stone. Because of that, Nessa’s list stopped with one row unmarked, and the warm smell of crushed berries made her stomach flutter. Because of that, she slid both hands under the rough wooden rim and whispered, “Just a little.” The basket lifted with a creak.

Under it was not her pebble. A pale strawberry, shaped like a tiny lantern, glowed cool and silver in the shade nobody thought to check. Finally, Nessa set it beside her counting stone and marked the last row with trembling fingers. If you follow the path between the berry plants, can you find where Nessa first heard tap, tap, tap?
