🎨 How to color it

Color the Thailand map golden yellow, the elephant soft gray, the temple roofs bright red with gold trim, and the tuk tuk turquoise. The map has one big open shape, so use broad crayon strokes inside it, then switch to a sharper pencil for the temple roof points and tiny cart shelves. Try making the palm leaves two greens, one light and one dark, so the riverside corner feels breezy.

Beside the warm river, Veda lined up three jasmine rice cakes in her lap and tapped the tuk tuk seat: pat, pat, hush. She had invented the Quiet Tuk Tuk Game. If she could ride past the temple steps, the palm shadows, and the long boat without making the cakes wobble, she would bring the prettiest one home for her little shelf. The air smelled like coconut milk and rain on stone.

At the temple gate, a sweeper’s broom went shuff-shuff, and a gray elephant reached its trunk toward the empty fruit basket. Veda held her breath, then placed one cake in the basket. Farther on, the boatman’s oar cracked, and she gave him the second cake for his long row home. She returned with only one small, squashed cake, warm in her hands. “Still counts,” she whispered. Next time you spot the tuk tuk near the palms, can you keep the game as quiet as pat, pat, hush?
