🎨 How to color it

Color the tower crane safety yellow, the steel beams cool silver, the concrete frame light gray, and the tiny mixer truck bright orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the crane’s lattice triangles, chains, railings, and small jobsite details, then switch to broader strokes for the sky and open walls. Try making the two hanging beam bundles different shades of blue-gray so the crane’s double lift feels extra dramatic.

Every day after the noon horn, Rafi carried chalk through the tower jobsite, marking arrows where crews should roll carts, stack panels, and duck under ropes. He wanted the afternoon rush to move without shouts. The air smelled of wet concrete and hot metal. One breezy day, he tapped his hard hat and invented Skyhook Relay: every crane load had to reach its mark before his chalk arrow dust blew away.

Because of that, the ironworkers began calling colors instead of directions. Because of that, the crane operator swung one beam left while another team readied straps on the right, and the whole site clanged like a giant drumline. “Pass it on!” Rafi yelled, and laughter bounced between floors. Finally, when two steel bundles floated over the frame at once, everyone joined the chant, sharing the game from scaffold to mixer truck, and the afternoon rush moved with the joy of chalk arrows in the wind.
