🎨 How to color it

Layer the wolf’s fur in slate gray and silver, make the mountain peaks icy blue, and set the crescent moon and small stars in pale gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow leaf veins and curls, working from the bold outer fur lines toward the tiny center details. For a secret-night effect, blend deep indigo around the moon panel while keeping the wolf’s eyes a bright amber.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Wolves Share Moonlight — Before wolves wore moonlight in their coats, Soren kept the ridge lamps trimmed with juniper oil and silence. Read the full story →

Before wolves wore moonlight in their coats, Soren kept the ridge lamps trimmed with juniper oil and silence. One windless evening, he invented a game for the lonely peaks: every star that appeared above the pass had to be matched with a silver stroke on a stone, and every stroke had to be given away before dawn.

The game worked too well. Silver gathered under his fingers like cold water, and joy rose so sharply in his chest that keeping it felt almost painful. From the shadowed pines came the first ridge wolf, quiet as snowfall, watching the bright marks with amber eyes. “Then you carry these,” Soren whispered, pressing the strokes into the wolf’s brow, ears, and ruff.

By morning, the lamps were empty, but the wolf crossed the high pass glowing with leaves of moon, peaks of frost, and small hidden stars. Ever since, wolves share the night they pass through, and on still evenings their coats remember Soren’s game of silver strokes on stone.
