🎨 How to color it

Give the T. rex olive green skin, the layered canyon walls rusty red and sandy tan, the spiky desert plants blue-green, and the fallen branch a weathered gray-brown. Use sharp colored pencils for the dinosaur’s tiny scales, wrinkles, teeth, and claw lines, then switch to broader strokes for the open cliff faces. Try a warm sunset gradient behind the far ridges so the dark back spines and curved tail stand out.

Every day, before the heat began to buzz, Bront stamped along the dry ravine and listened for cracks that answered. He wanted to finish his echo map before the big wind erased his pebble marks. Thump—tap. Thump—tap. The canyon smelled of dust and sun-baked stone.

Until one day, a crack answered from under a fallen branch with a whispery, “This way.” Bront froze so fast his tail swished sand. A thin line in the rock wriggled like a silver lizard and zipped between his toes. Because of that, he chased it past thorny yucca and red ledges. Because of that, the crack leaped from wall to wall, opening tiny windows of cool air that smelled like rain.

Finally, Bront pressed his ear to the last stone and heard water chuckling far below. “I found the hidden river!” he roared, and the ravine rang back in three wild echoes. Next time you spot the fallen branch and scattered pebbles, can you trace the path where curiosity ran away with Bront—thump, tap, thump?
