🎨 How to color it

Every day, Liora raced her skiff beside the riverside arcade, counting five tulips carved into its iron gate before she ducked under the low bridge. She liked the rule of it: oars creak, water slap, tulip one, tulip two, breathe. Until one dawn, a brass-winged heron clattered down among the stems and spoke through its beak like a trumpet: “The flood bell is asleep.”

Because of that, Liora tied her skiff to a root and stepped onto the forbidden landing, where wet stone smelled of rain and riverweed. Because of that, the iron tulips uncurled above her, making an arch wide enough for one shaking messenger. She ran through loops of vine and leaf, palms stinging on cold metal, and struck the bell with her oar.

The city woke in bronze thunder. Behind her, the five tulips folded back into silence, and Liora counted them again before the bridge: tulip one, tulip two, breathe.
