🎨 How to color it

Layer the ballerina’s bodice in deep teal, her scalloped tutu in rose pink and plum, the open fan in ivory and gold, and the draped curtains in soft lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny curls, petals, and lace-like fan ribs, moving section by section so the zentangle patterns stay crisp. For a quiet stage glow, shade the arch behind her with pale peach, letting the busy skirt and fan carry the richest color.

The story behind this coloring page

Before her first solo, Seren invented a game with her paper fan: one rib for breathing in, one rib for breathing out, until the tremble left her fingers. The moonlit arch smelled faintly of dust and lavender cloth, and the curtains made a soft sea-sound above her. She wanted only to step forward when the music thinned, but the hall had gone so quiet that even her courage seemed to be holding its breath.

On the seventh rib, a small draft slipped through the carvings and tried to fold the fan shut. Seren caught it gently, not hard, and opened the fan wider than before. The air spread across her wrist like cool water. Her shoulders lowered. The conductor’s hand rose. Seren whispered, “Stay with me,” and the fan answered with a hush wide enough to carry her first step.

That is why stage fans open wide before a dance: they are not showing off. They are making a little room for courage, one rib for breathing in, one rib for breathing out.
