🎨 How to color it

Color the baseball bright white with cherry-red stitches, the big glove golden tan, and the grass spring green. Use a sharpened pencil or fine-tip marker for the glove laces and tiny stitch marks, then fill the wide leather panels with a crayon. Try making the glove darker around the pocket so the baseball looks snug and round inside it.

At the empty ball field, Toby pressed his glove into the dewy grass and whispered, “Catch all the cheers.” The leather smelled dusty and sweet, and the baseball sat in the pocket like a round little moon. Toby clapped once. Pop! The sound bounced off the bleachers. He clapped twice. Pop-pop! He grinned so hard his cheeks felt buzzy.

Then the glove giggled. Not Toby. Not the ball. A tiny cricket crawled from under the baseball and rubbed its legs: chirrup-chirrup-POP! Every chirp sounded like a cheering crowd hiding in the grass. Toby laughed and clapped along, sharing his big, bouncy joy with the cricket, the ball, and the quiet field. Next time you spot that ball tucked in the glove, can you hear the chirrup-chirrup-POP?
