Before the moon climbed over the fern tops, Ludo set himself a private challenge: make the quietest concert in the clearing. He tapped one paw on moss, let his long ears swing like velvet curtains, and breathed through his nose until the air smelled of damp bark, peppery leaves, and cold starlight. No barking, no howling, not even a sneeze. For his grand finale, he nudged fallen petals into rows and bowed to nobody at all.
The clearing answered with the faintest puff-puff-puff. Around him, little mushrooms lifted their spotted caps, wearing smiles as if they had been waiting for the joke to arrive. Their applause was a powdery silver cloud, so soft it made no sound, drifting onto the flowers Ludo had secretly arranged for whoever might wander through after dawn.
By morning, every petal wore a dusting of shimmer, and no one knew why the path looked festive. Ludo only sat in the ring, whiskers twitching, while the quietest concert kept sparkling in the cold starlight.
