🎨 How to color it

Color the camper van sunny teal, the pine trees deep forest green, the string-light bulbs warm golden yellow, and the little window flower pink. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow curtain folds, roof straps, tire rings, and tiny bulbs, then switch to broader strokes for the van panels and sky spaces. Try a dusk-to-night gradient behind the trees so the golden bulbs look like they just clicked on.

The first bulb over the camper gave a soft tink, and Quill pinched his paper lantern map before the breeze could steal it. He wanted to hang it between the pines before Aunt Rae returned from the creek, so everyone could follow his hand-cut stars to the best marshmallow spot. But the last knot snapped. His pocket held only one bright blue string—the handle for the tiny flowerpot he had painted that morning.

Quill stepped off the mat into the pine-needle hush. Sap smelled sharp and sweet. Near the tallest tree, something pale fluttered against the bark: a moth with wings like folded moon paper. “Trade?” it whispered. Quill gave the blue string. The moth tugged it through branch after branch, leaving a glowing loop where his map could hang.

When Aunt Rae came back, Quill’s fingers were sticky, scratched, and proud. The lantern map swayed above the camper, pointing not to the marshmallow spot, but to a small circle of secret fireflies. Next time you see the bulbs strung over the van, can you find where Quill’s handmade route begins?
