🎨 How to color it

Give the T. rex a mossy olive green, the smaller runner a sandy tan with darker stripe marks, the palm fronds a bright jungle green, and the far mountains a cool blue-gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the teeth, claws, leaf veins, and bark lines on the fallen log, then switch to broader strokes for the dinosaurs’ bodies. Try a warm sunrise gradient behind the mountains so the dust puffs and smiling mouths feel extra full of motion.

Before the sun climbed over the smoking peaks, Karo trotted along the fern trail, brushing dew from his knees and flicking pebbles out of the ruts with his tail. He wanted the morning dash to feel fast under every foot, so he nudged a fallen log until it made a smooth, slanting ramp. The jungle smelled like wet leaves and warm stone. Dust puffed softly behind him: pff, pff, pff.

A quick chirp snapped from the bushes. Out sprang Tikka, a little striped runner with bright eyes and feet like bouncing seeds. “Race the ramp?” she called, already grinning. Karo laughed and thundered after her, not noticing how the small beetles, lizards, and tiny hatchlings gathered where he had cleared the stones. Tikka skimmed over the log, and Karo bounded beside it, making the whole trail hum.

Then Tikka veered aside and bowed to the empty path. Karo saw it at last: his shortcut was not empty at all, just quiet. Little travelers poured over the smooth place he had made, carrying leaf parcels and shiny berries, and none of them knew who had helped. Karo only smiled wider and ran on, leaving the trail ready under every foot; next time you spot the dust puffs behind him, see if you can tell who else just passed through the wet leaves and warm stone.
