🎨 How to color it

Color the capybara warm tawny brown, the striped beach ball in coral, aqua, and sunny yellow, and the curling waves deep blue with white foam. Use sharp colored pencils for the capybara’s fur strokes and the ball’s small circles, then switch to broad side-strokes for the open sky and sand. Try making the sailboat a tiny bright red surprise against a cool blue horizon.

At low tide, when the sand smelled salty and warm, Rafa pressed one paw on his striped beach ball and promised himself three perfect rolls before supper. Roll one bumped a shell. Roll two hopped a crab print. Roll three vanished with a fwump into a ribbon of foam, and Rafa had to leave his snug dune hollow to chase it.

The ball bobbed beside the loud green curl of a wave, just out of reach. Rafa splashed in, paid for it with wet whiskers and sand in both ears, and nudged it back to shore. Then he heard a tiny rattle inside the rubber plug. “Don’t tell the gulls,” he whispered, prying it open with a shell chip.

Out slid a curled strip of sailcloth, smelling of coconut rope: MEET US WHERE THE PALM SHADOW POINTS. Rafa looked up. The shadow stretched straight to his own dune hollow, where his cousins were waiting with sea-grape cakes. Next time you spot the ball by his paw, keep the secret: sometimes the tide rolls you exactly home.
