🎨 How to color it

Give the capybara warm chestnut fur, the lightning sunglasses glossy black lenses with yellow bolts, the skateboard teal wheels, and the desert palms bright green tops. Use sharp colored pencils for the sunglasses, board flames, star, and tiny sparkles, then switch to smooth marker fills for the capybara’s big body and the curving road. Try a sunset fade behind the clouds, shifting from peach near the palms to pale turquoise above the cactus.

Every evening, when the canyon stones still held the sun’s warm smell, Orlo rolled down the old desert road and tried to make his skateboard whisper instead of rattle. He had set himself one rule: pass the cactus bend before the first night moth rose, without waking the dozing lizards.

Until one day, a hot wind flipped his dark glasses sideways and showed him three wilted palm sprouts beside the road, their leaves clicking dryly like paper. Because of that, Orlo tucked his race card under one paw and slowed at every shiny patch of shade. Because of THAT, his wheels gathered cool dust, and he sprinkled it around each sprout while no one watched.

At the last bend, the first moth lifted, silver in the peach light. Orlo had missed his silent record, but behind him the palms stood a little taller. “Roll easy,” he whispered, and if you follow the curving road with your eyes, you may spot the place where warm dust became shade.
