🎨 How to color it

Color the cactus a bright desert green, the cowboy hat sandy tan, the scarf chili red, and the lasso golden yellow. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big cactus body, hat, and open sky, saving a sharper pencil for the tiny tassels and cactus spines. Try making the spinning rope fade from yellow to orange around the loop so it looks like it is whooshing through warm desert light.

Every evening, Zeke practiced rope circles beside the mesa flats, swish-swish, hoping to catch the tiny tumble-sparks that zipped from dry grass after sunset. Until one day, his lasso loop whistled back at him.

Because of that, Zeke chased the sound over warm rocks and past scratchy grass, his red scarf snapping like a flag. A silver hoop of wind dipped from a cloud and spun around his rope. Because of THAT, the tumble-sparks followed too, pinging and popping like corn in a pan.

“Hold steady!” Zeke laughed, and swung one big circle. The wind-hoop caught the sparks, twirled them into a glowing trail, and dropped them safely behind the far ridge. Next time you spot Zeke’s rope above his hat, can you hear it go swish-swish?
