🎨 How to color it

Color the armchair soft butter yellow, the girl’s beanie coral pink, the monstera leaves deep green, and the sleeping cat warm gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the laptop stickers, book spines, plant cuts, and the tiny sun on the chair arm so those small shapes stay crisp. Try a pale blue wash outside the window and let the mug steam fade from lavender to white for a quiet, early-morning feel.

Before the radiator clicked awake, Keira opened her laptop with the three star stickers and placed her mother’s tiny sun patch beside the keyboard. It was only yellow thread on felt, but Mom had sewn it for “days that forget to shine.” Keira wanted Mr. Lune, the library janitor, to find a warm chair after mopping the cold marble hall. The problem was that sunlight never stayed where she dragged it on her screen.

Her cat, Niblet, slept by the chair leg while the mug sent up cinnamon steam. Keira typed a secret code she had found in an old book from the shelf: WINDOW, LEAF, CUP, KINDNESS. Outside, the clouds slid over the morning. The monstera leaves trembled. A thin beam slipped through the glass, touched the sun patch, and glowed as if it had been waiting. “Stay for him,” Keira whispered.

She stitched the patch onto the arm of the biggest chair and carried the laptop away before anyone came in. At dusk, Mr. Lune sat down with a tired sigh, and the chair warmed under his elbow without a sound. Ever since, the coziest armchairs keep a little sun on one arm for someone who needs it, even if nobody sees who put it there; can you spot where Keira’s borrowed sunbeam settled?
