🎨 How to color it

Color the librarian’s apron denim blue, the checkout book cherry red, the tall shelves honey brown, and the sleeping cat soft gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the many book spines, then switch to broader strokes for the round chair, rug tiles, and big window frame. Try making the hanging globe light glow pale yellow, with a few nearby books shaded warmer as if the library has its own little sun.

The story behind this coloring page

Between the honey-colored shelves of Brindle Street Library, Tessa tucked her knees into the round reading chair and raced through a book about rooftop maps. Pages whispered under her thumbs. Across the room, Milo slapped his library card on the counter and said, “Fast one, please!” The librarian slid a thick red book toward him with a grin, while the globe lamp hummed softly overhead.

Then the red book purred. Not like a machine. Like a warm kitten in a sunbeam. The gray cat on the little table opened one eye, tapped the cover with one paw, and the book sprang open to a blank page that smelled faintly of cinnamon dust. Letters scampered across it: MEET AT THE ROUND WINDOW. BRING YOUR LOUDEST FAVORITE LINE.

Tessa whooped so loudly that two book carts rattled. Milo hugged the purring book, the librarian rang the desk bell, and readers popped from every aisle with poems, jokes, facts, and daring first sentences. Under the round window, their voices bounced together until joy felt too big for the room. Next time you spot the cat by the stool, listen close: the pages may be whispering, “Fast one, please!”
