🎨 How to color it

Color the dinosaur sage green with teal spots, make the rounded head crest pale peach, and give the berry bush olive leaves with bright red berries. Use sharp colored pencils for the many oval spots, toes, leaves, and small pebbles, then switch to a softer touch on the wide canyon rocks. Try a mischievous sunset twist by shading the rocks lavender on one side and golden orange on the other.

Every afternoon, after the sun warmed the canyon stones until they smelled dusty and sweet, Nixie sorted the pebbles around the berry bush into tidy little moons. She wanted the path perfect before the cricket choir began. Any pebble that wobbled went left; any pebble that clicked went right.

Until one day, a striped beetle rolled a pebble straight back into the middle and saluted with two antennae. “Club meeting!” it squeaked. Because of that, Nixie followed the beetle behind the bush, where dozens of bugs were bowling pebbles into leaf cups with tiny tok-tok-tok sounds. Because of that, her neat path became a lumpy, laughing game board, and the cricket choir marched over to keep score.

Finally, Nixie scraped one big circle in the dust: wobblers on the edge, clickers in the cups, beetles underneath the leaves for surprise rounds. When twilight turned the canyon purple, everyone fit exactly somewhere. If you spot the berry bush, can you guess which pebbles still smell dusty and sweet?
