🎨 How to color it

Color the elephant soft slate gray, the scarf cranberry red with teal stripes, the pine branch deep evergreen, and the cottage roof snowy blue-gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the scarf’s tiny dots, stars, and fringe, then switch to broader strokes for the elephant’s body and snowy hills. Try making the big snowflakes pale blue at the tips and nearly white in the centers so they feel icy above the warm scarf.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening, Taro shuffled past the chimney cottage, tapped three frosty stones with his trunk, and guessed where the next snowflake would land. He called it Flake-Chase, and he was determined to tag one before it kissed the ground. The air smelled like pine smoke and cold sugar. One night, a giant star-shaped flake spun sideways instead of down.

Because of that, Taro charged after it, scarf tails snapping, through whispery firs and over squeaky snow. Because of that, his trunk bumped a tiny pine branch stuck with ornaments, bells, and a note: RING ME IF YOU FIND THE NORTH PATH. “Game on,” Taro trumpeted.

He hooked up the branch and followed the flake to a white dip where a delivery sled had vanished from the trail. Finally, Taro rang the bell with one bright jingle, and lanterns answered from beyond the trees. Next time you spot the biggest snowflake overhead, dare it to show you where the next clue will land.
