Behind the tallest window, where leaf shadows tapped tick-tick on the glass, Tansy set herself a challenge: make a sound so small it would not wake the sleeping house, but so cheerful it could reach the sparrows outside. She tried a paw on the cushion. Puff. She tried one whisker against the pane. Snick. Nice, but not happy enough.
