Under the quick-drumming rain, Bixby batted a soggy scrap tucked inside the tall garden boot. It was only a torn seed packet, but its blue cloud stamp looked like a secret map. “Adventure!” he squeaked, and scrambled in, paws thump-thumping against the rubber.
The boot tipped, splashed, and settled in a puddle. Raindrops made plip-plip rings around it. Bixby sniffed mud, grass, and flower sweetness while he matched the cloud stamp to the clouds above.
Then the puddle shivered. The rings joined together and showed tiny cloud shapes, just like the boot’s pattern. The scrap was not a map to somewhere far away; it was a map to the sky under his nose. Bixby peeked higher as the sun blinked out, and if you follow the puddle rings, you might find his boot map too.
