🎨 How to color it

Color the gnome’s hat deep cranberry, his tunic moss green, the lantern warm brass, and the cave crystals icy blue with lavender tips. Use sharp colored pencils for the crystal facets, filling one flat face at a time so the angled lines stay crisp. Try making the lantern flame glow yellow-orange and lightly shade the nearby rocks as if his small light is bouncing through the cave.

The story behind this coloring page

Under Dripdrop Hill, Dax held his lantern by one finger and invented a game before he could change his mind. “If the cave says plink, I take one step,” he whispered, while cold stone breathed mushroomy air around his boots. Plink. He stepped. Plonk. He stepped again. His beard tickled his belt buckle, and his knees made tiny knocking sounds he hoped were part of the rules.

Soon the tunnel joined in with drip, tik, tink, and a very rude blurp from a puddle. Dax grinned so hard his mustache curled upward. Then he swung the lantern for the next sound—and every crystal answered without a noise. Blue sparks blinked along the ceiling, then purple ones near his toes, then one green flash shaped exactly like a wink.

The cave had not been echoing his game. It had been waiting for a light to play back. Dax lifted the lantern higher, brave enough to laugh first, and the crystals blinked a path of silly, silent plinks. If you follow the lantern’s glow, can you spot which crystal winked when Dax took one more step under Dripdrop Hill?
