Every day on the lunar plain, Zadie tapped each crater rim with her boot and whispered, “Good night, hollow.” She had set herself a small challenge: greet all forty-two before the crescent moon sank behind the black hills. Moon dust squeaked under her soles, and her air tank hummed like a sleepy bee.
Until one day, a new hollow appeared with PANDA CRATER carved in its lip. Because of that, Zadie had to add one more greeting, and because of THAT, her last whisper came out too full to stay quiet. “Hello, everyone,” she said, and the crater caught her voice, rounded it, and sent it ringing from star to star.
Far off, helmets turned. Little lights blinked back—one, then seven, then forty-two. Zadie lifted her glove and laughed so softly it fogged her visor with silver. If you spot the crater with her name, you may know where the shared hello began: “Good night, hollow.”
