🎨 How to color it

Color the panda’s cap deep navy, the tassel golden yellow, the hanging stars bright silver, and the scattered leaves fresh spring green. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny fur marks, confetti curls, and paw pads, then switch to smoother strokes on the big round belly. Try making the background a pale sky-blue fade so the navy cap and yellow tassel feel ready for a proud little parade.

Under the paper stars of Pebble Hall, Quibble stood very still in his square cap and whispered, “Seven swings, no paws.” The tassel brushed his cheek like a tickly paintbrush. He puffed one tiny breath. Swish. He wiggled one ear. Swash. Somewhere above him, crepe paper crinkled, and the room smelled like chalk dust, oranges, and fresh-cut leaves.

Quibble tried a nose-sneeze, a knee-bounce, and a grand blink so enormous that his cap nearly slid over one eye. The tassel bobbed six times. Around him, classmates rustled their programs, but nobody laughed out loud; they were too busy holding in giggles that sounded like squeaky balloons. “One more,” Quibble murmured, planting his feet on the shiny floor.

Then the seventh swing happened before he moved. A paper star on the garland tipped, tapped the string, and sent a secret breeze straight to his cap. All the confetti curls began counting too—flip, flop, flutter—while the leaves at the windows twirled like tiny green hands. Quibble raised his paw, not to help, but to greet the room that had joined his game. If you catch the tassel hanging beside his face, can you tell whether it has just finished its seventh swish?
