🎨 How to color it

Give the pilot’s shirt a crisp sky blue, his shoulder stripes a bright gold, the cockpit panels a cool charcoal, and the runway outside a soft gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the many buttons, dials, and switches, then fill the larger window and seat areas with smoother marker strokes. Try a sunrise fade through the cockpit windows, warming the clouds and tiny airplanes while the controls stay cool and dark.

Behind the quiet cockpit door, Theo tapped one finger on his checklist and made a secret dare: before his first captain-led takeoff, he would spot three runway shapes all by himself. The cockpit smelled like warm plastic and coffee, and every dial seemed to stare back. He found the long white stripe, then the square hangar doors, but the third shape hid from him like a mouse in a suitcase.

So Theo stepped out onto the jet bridge, where the air tasted cold and metallic. His hat nearly blew off. Past a cart rattling with luggage, he hurried to the hangar office window and pressed his palm to the chilly glass. There it was: a row of tiny runway lights making a perfect dotted curve. “Got you,” he whispered.

Back in his seat, his knees still buzzed, but his hands settled around the controls. The tower crackled, the engines hummed, and Theo smiled because the airport no longer felt like a giant maze. It felt like a place with clues. If you peek through the cockpit windows, can you find the long stripe, the square doors, and Theo’s dotted curve?
