🎨 How to color it

Color the eagle’s feathers golden brown, the star jersey bright red, the striped flag navy and white, and the soccer ball classic black and white. Use sharp colored pencils for the feather tips, talons, banner flags, and tiny stadium-light squares so the small shapes stay crisp. Try a dusk-purple sky behind the light poles and leave the three little stars pale yellow so the mascot feels like it is cheering at an evening game.

Under the bleachers, where popcorn salt scratched the air and sneakers thumped overhead, Garnet tucked one striped flag beneath his wing. He had given himself a challenge: one perfect kick, one perfect flag wave, and the old scoreboard would blink the secret mascot signal. But the board stayed dark, blank as a closed eye.

Garnet stepped off his warm sideline mat and crossed the hush behind the goal. His talons clicked on concrete. Past the light tower, a tiny metal star lay in a puddle of silver moon-glow. When he picked it up, cold pricked his claws. A whisper came from the empty scoreboard: “Put back what cheers forgot.”

He missed his practice kick while fitting the star into a hidden slot below the board, and the ball rolled away with a soft bump. Then every stadium bulb winked on, spelling GO SLOW, GARNET. He laughed, waved his flag once, and kicked gently. The ball tapped his raised claw and stopped right there. If you spot the little stars above him, can you guess which one first opened the scoreboard’s closed eye?
