🎨 How to color it

Give the eagle feather golden brown and cream sections, the round beads a soft turquoise, and the surrounding leaves two bright greens. Use chunky crayons or broad markers to fill each stained-glass shape; it is okay if little hands color over the thick black lines. Try making the feather’s middle stripe sunny yellow so it looks like it caught a tiny sunbeam.

High on the leafy branch, Huck tucked one feather bead-side down and gave it a wiggle. “Whoosh one!” he called, smelling warm bark and green leaves.

He wiggled faster. Whoosh two went swish-swish, and the big leaves bobbed like boats.

Then a tiny ladybug peeked from under a leaf and clapped her six little feet. Tap-tap-tap! Huck laughed so hard the feather danced again.
