🎨 How to color it

Try golden yellow for the central spiral sun, turquoise for the curling wave bands, coral for the smaller spiral circles, and deep orange for the pointed rays. Use sharp colored pencils for the tight inner curls, then switch to broader strokes as each swirl opens outward. For a lively tattoo look, shade every spiral from dark at the center to light at the outer curve.

On the high sky bridge, Niko pressed a warm gold tile into wet plaster and tried to make one perfect festival sun before the bell chimed. His fingers smelled of chalk dust and lemon oil, and every ray he carved came out straight, stiff, and quiet. The bridge needed joy for the evening crossing, but Niko’s sun sat there like a button on a coat.

Then a stray wind-curl rolled in from nowhere, humming through the railings. It had no cloud to herd and no kite to lift, only a soft whoosh and a tickle of blue air. “May I rest in your sun?” it whispered. Niko almost brushed it away, but its little spiral made the gold tile seem to breathe. He carved the curl into the center, and the sun began to turn without moving.

The joy was too big for one tile. Niko pressed another sun beside it, and the wind-curl leaned into that one too, then the next, leaving loops like laughter across the bridge. By sunset, travelers crossed under a whole row of spinning sunbursts, and ever since, festival suns have carried curls inside them so their happiness can travel from one bright circle to the next. If you follow the spirals with your eyes, can you tell where the wind-curl shared its first whoosh?
