🎨 How to color it

Color the bee honey yellow with soft black stripes, the daisy petals creamy white, the flower center golden orange, and the smiling sun lemon yellow. The wide petals and round bee body are great for chunky crayons or markers, while the tiny hearts and stars can be colored last with a sharpened pencil. Try making each heart on the bee’s wings a different pink, as if it carried little bits of sunset.

Every morning, before the glass roof warmed, Zuzu flew to the tallest daisy and left one bright drop of nectar in its bumpy middle. Plink. The drop smelled like clover and rain. Zuzu wanted the small rooftop greenhouse to have sweetness ready before anyone woke. One gray morning, her drop vanished with a tiny slurp from under the daisy’s heart-shaped mark.

Because of that, Zuzu pressed her ear to the flower and heard dry rattling. Because of that, she lifted a loose crumb of pollen and found a secret pocket full of thirsty seeds, hidden where nobody thought to look. “For you,” she whispered, and shared drop after drop until the pocket hummed softly. By afternoon, three shy sprouts curled up beside the stem. No one saw Zuzu rest there, wings warm in the sun, but next time you spot the heart in the daisy’s middle, see if it looks like it is keeping her plink-plink secret.
