🎨 How to color it

Color the dog golden tan, the car a bright cherry red, the winding road soft gray, and the far farmhouse creamy white with a blue roof. Use short pencil strokes along the dog’s fluffy ears and chest, then switch to smoother marker fills for the wide car door and rolling hills. Try a pale-to-deeper blue sky behind the long clouds so the dog’s windy ears feel extra lively.

The first rule of the Wind-Window Game was simple: catch three smells before the next bend. Pippin braced his paws on the car door and counted. Cut grass—one. Warm tire dust—two. But the third smell was odd: damp paper, like a letter left in rain. He stuck his nose higher into the rushing air. Somewhere beyond the hedges, something went tap-tap-tap.

At the roadside mailbox shaped like a little barn, Pippin barked once, and the car slowed. Inside was no mail, only a field mouse shivering beside three babies in a nest of torn receipt paper. Pippin’s favorite cheddar biscuit waited on the seat behind him. He nudged it out the window. It landed with a soft thump, and the mouse dragged crumbs into the dark box.

The car rolled on. Pippin did not win three smells before the bend. He won four: grass, dust, damp paper, and secret thanks. If you follow the curling road behind his flying ears, can you guess where the tiny barn mailbox stood?
