🎨 How to color it

Color the horse a sandy palomino with a flaxen mane, make the ocean turquoise, the seashells coral and pearl, and the distant hills soft lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the mane strands, shell ridges, and small hoofprints, then switch to light side-strokes for the wide sky and smooth beach. Try a sunrise gradient around the big round sun, fading from lemon yellow into peach above the waves.

Every morning, before the gulls finished their rusty cries, Solvi tapped three tide pools with her hoof and tried to beat the sun to the tallest dune. She had made it her private dare: foam, pool, dune, all before noon, with salt drying silver on her nose.

Until one day, the tide rushed in early, hissing over the sand and swallowing her hoofprints. Because of that, Solvi’s markers vanished; because of that, a trail of tiny turtle tracks wobbled the wrong way, away from the sea. No one called for help. Only the shells clicked in the wash.

Solvi nudged her favorite scallops and spirals into a shining line toward the waves. “This way, little paddlers,” she whispered, though nobody was there to cheer. At last, the hatchlings slipped into the blue-green water, and Solvi reached the dune long after noon, grinning at the salt on her nose. If you spot the shells near her hooves, can you trace her secret path from foam to pool to dune?
