Under the workbench, where sawdust smelled like cookies, Pip pressed one ear to a little wrapped box. Hmmmm. He wanted to know what made it sing. So he slipped off his warm rug, bumped through ribbon curls, and pushed the box toward the frosty door.
Outside, snow squeaked under his paws. A tiny snow-cricket hopped from the holly and whispered, “Secret hums like moonlight.” Pip gave the cricket his scarf tassel for a ride on the box. Together they brought it back inside. The box still hummed, but now Pip did too—softly, happily, under the workbench. Can you spot the holly where the cricket first hopped?
