🎨 How to color it

Color the gingerbread walls caramel brown, the icing roof snowy white, the candy path in peppermint red and lemon yellow, and the lollipop trees bright raspberry. Use sharp colored pencils for the scalloped roof tiles, swirly icing lines, and tiny candy circles so the little patterns stay crisp. Try making every gumdrop along the roof edge a different jewel color, like a secret rainbow stitched around the house.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening, Rue swept the cookie path, straightened the gumdrops, and sniffed the cinnamon air to be sure the house smelled properly welcoming. Then she invented Gumdrop Rulebook, a game where every visitor had to obey the color they stepped on: red meant hop, yellow meant whisper, green meant trade hats, and purple meant sing your sentence backward.

Until one day, the mayor’s tidy holiday tour arrived early, boots crunching sugar snow. Because of that, three penguins hopped into the lollipop bushes, the mayor whispered his speech to a marshmallow, and Aunt Fizz traded hats with a chimney. Because of THAT, everyone laughed so hard the frosting icicles shook loose and plopped like soft drumbeats onto the porch.

At last, Rue climbed onto a peppermint stone and called, “New rule: if you’re laughing, you’re already home!” The mayor pinned his upside-down hat to the door as the official welcome sign. Cinnamon puffed warm from the windows, and the courtyard filled with the best kind of mess. Next time you spot the candy path, see if you can guess which gumdrop made the mayor sing backward.
